This year’s “A Taste of the Good Life”will celebrate the power of education and empowerment to young people. Proceeds will support our Family Life Institute which serves teens and families, providing them with the skills needed to address critical issues such as responsible decision making, delaying intercourse and preventing unintended pregnancy. The Family Life Institute also sponsors the Teen LINKS (Leaders Impacting Neighbors Knowledge on Sexuality) peer-to-peer education program. We train and employ teen educators who become resources to their peers and communities. They work with schools, local agencies, churches, and shelters presenting small theatrical plays dealing with youth issues like teen pregnancy or dating abuse. Our Family Life Institute reaches more than 9,000 young people in the Essex, Passaic and Hudson tri-county area. The impact of our program is increased self-esteem, confidence, and awareness of expectations for both peer educators and teens. The teens develop healthy, responsible attitudes and behaviors regarding sexuality.
